CARLISLE Cathedral will be hosting an installation service for the new Archdeacon.
The service will take place on Sunday, September 8, at 3pm.
All are welcome to attend the service, the Cathedral has said that tickets are free but must be booked in advance.
In a post on social media, Carlisle Cathedral wrote: "The Rev Ruth Newton will be installed on Sunday, September 8, at 3pm and will take responsibility for the Deaneries of Carlisle, Brampton, Penrith and Appleby.
"Ruth was born and raised in Carlisle, later working in the city and, following ordination in 2002, serving the parishes of Caldbeck, Castle Sowerby, and Sebergham. Most recently she has served as a Vicar near Ripon.
"After the service refreshments will be served in The Fratry; spaces are limited to 200 people and bookings for refreshments can be made when you book."
