Carlisle United fans have revealed the flag that will act as a lasting celebration of Andrew Jenkins at Brunton Park.

A fundraiser organised by the Flags for United group raised an impressive £460 to remember the former Blues chairman and owner, whose funeral was held yesterday.

Now the large flag has been unveiled, featuring a famous quote from Mr Jenkins.

With white lettering on a blue background, it says: "Some people are in it for the glory, I've never thought of it like that. I just love Carlisle United." - Andrew Jenkins, 1936-2024.

Mr Jenkins said those words in an interview with the EFL in 2020.

The Pioneer Foodservice businessman was a director at Brunton Park for a remarkable 64 years.

His passing earlier this month saw a huge outpouring of tributes from many people connected with Carlisle United and the football world.

Flags for United say £345 of the £460 raised has been spent on a flag which will be durable enough to stay in the Warwick Road End permanently.

The rest, they say, will be donated to charity.

Those behind the fundraiser said it was important to recognise Mr Jenkins' remarkable service to the club.

On the crowdfunding site, they said: "We could spend all day writing about Andrew’s service to the club but I think Billy Atkinson (CUOSC) summed it up better than any of us could: “Andrew was an absolute gentleman, there are no amount of words that can truly define Andrew’s service to Carlisle United.”"

It is the latest eyecatching flag to be produced by the Flags for United, and also the latest in tribute to a late Brunton Park hero.

Last year they produced a banner celebrating David Wilkes, describing him as "part of the fabric of the club".

Other flags celebrating the likes of Paul Simpson and Owen Moxon have been produced, while the group also organised a fundraiser for a floral tribute at Bradford City's Valley Parade in memory of the 56 victims of the 1985 fire tragedy.
