CARLISLE Cathedral is encouraging traders to take up a pitch at upcoming markets in the city centre.

The Carlisle Farmers' Markets will take place this August, and the Cathedral is offering traders the chance to have a free pitch.

In a post on social media, Carlisle Cathedral wrote: "Would you like to have a free pitch at the next Carlisle Farmers' Market? Showcase your local business or charity for free, saving the usual fee of £20, on Saturday, August 3, at our monthly market, set in the grounds of Carlisle Cathedral.

"There are a few terms and conditions, and you will need to bring your own pop-up gazebo."

The markets sell a range of homemade goods and artisan crafts and are set on the grounds of Carlisle Cathedral.

The stallholders are local producers, with regular attendees including Hallsford Farm and Warwick Bridge Corn Mill.
