THE school summer holidays have now begun and many of us will want to spend more time with our families.
Summer is such a wonderful time, the grass is greener, the sky is bluer, and everything just feels that little bit happier.
As many parents will be looking to keep their kids occupied throughout the big six-week break, we at Newsquest have decided to give you all a helping hand.
We've compiled together a list of the top parks to visit across North and West Cumbria.
Parks are a great play to play, relax, and unwind and there are so many great parks to visit in this part of the county.
So why not head to the park this summer break and enjoy some quality time with your friends and family?
Bitts Park - Carlisle
The park is described as a peaceful haven that is only 800 metres from the city centre.
It comprises formal gardens, riverside walks, a children’s play area, and a splash park.
There is also a sports facility and running routes.
Castle Park - Whitehaven
This park is located on the opposite side of the town to the harbour. It is traditional in style with large trees and wild bushes.
The park is popular with both dog walkers and tourists looking to take a quiet break from the town centre.
It is located next to Whitehaven Castle which overlooks the play area and playing fields.
Fitz Park - Keswick
Fitz Park is just a few minutes walk from the market square. It is in a riverside setting with open views towards Skiddaw and Lattrigg. It is an ideal place to go and have a picnic.
Castle Park - Penrith
Castle Park takes its name from Penrith Castle which is a prominent feature of the park that was built as an addition to the original pele tower over 70 years from 1399 and became a Royal fortress for Richard, Duke of Gloucester.
