AN ‘INTOXICATED’ man who called 999 from a train station and was then seen urinating in public has been fined for being drunk and disorderly.
Police were called to Workington Train Station on Tuesday, July 9, after a 999 call had been made.
Islam Muhibbul, 40, was located at the train station. He couldn’t give any reason why he had contacted police, Workington Magistrates’ Court heard.
Pamela Fee, prosecuting, said the defendant had half a bottle of whisky and was ‘intoxicated’. A stop search was carried out and Muhibbul had attempted to remove all of his clothing.
Officers tried to find out why he had called emergency services but were unable to do so and decided to leave him.
Muhibbul had then swore and shouted obscenities at police. He was warned by officers not to shout and swear. As police were driving away, they saw the defendant urinating on to the train station.
He was then arrested for being drunk and disorderly.
Muhibbul, who was not legally represented, said: “I was quite drunk. I plead guilty. I asked, can I use the toilet? They said, there isn’t a toilet.
“What I did, I’m sorry for it.
“I’m really struggling at the moment. I’ve got five kids and have to pay child maintenance for them.”
Muhibbul, of Ormerod Street, Rawtenstall, Rossendale, Lancashire, pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly.
He was fined £100 and was ordered to pay £85 costs and a £40 victim surcharge.
