More than one hundred students from an award-winning theatre school took to the stage to showcase their talents at the Carnegie Theatre in Workington.

Students aged between four and 18, who are taught by Razzamataz West Cumbria, put on a matinee and evening performance of 'Razz the Night Away' on Saturday, July 20.

The show was a culmination of their hard work and dedication, representing months of training in various performing arts disciplines during the academic year.

The performance was a vibrant celebration of musical theatre, street dance, acting, song and contemporary dance.

The young cast's performances included musical numbers from classics including 'The Lion King,' 'Aladdin,' 'Sister Act,' 'Footloose,' and 'Mary Poppins.'

They also drew inspiration from recent hits and iconic artists such as Elton John, Elvis Presley, Beyoncé, and songs from the recent 'Barbie' film.

Principal of Razzamataz West Cumbria, Matty Rayson, said: "Witnessing the children on stage is truly magical, especially seeing even the shyest among them radiate with pride.

"The heart of this experience lies in making sure every child feels valued and has a chance to shine.

"These positive moments lay the foundation for their future confidence and resilience."

The show not only highlighted the performers' talent but also the spirit of teamwork and collaboration.

Students supported each other on stage, helping to cultivate an environment that encourages them to step outside their comfort zones.

Throughout the year, the children have participated in numerous workshops, performances and have been given opportunities for scholarships.

The team at Razzamataz West Cumbria are now preparing for the Summer School, taking place from August 5 to 9 at Whitehaven Academy.

This year's theme is inspired by new film 'Inside Out 2'.

Principal Matty Rayson said: "Parents and guardians are often totally surprised with how much the children learn during the week but of course, we very much focus on ensuring they are having fun.

"It’s the holidays after all.

"We like to explore many different parts of the arts during the summer school, giving lots of young people the opportunity to discover new talents and interests.

"Whether they’re stepping into the world of acting, dancing, or music for the first time or have years of experience, we aim to reignite their creativity and passion."

The summer school is open to all young people, regardless of their previous experience with performing arts.

Parents are also encouraged to book a free taster session for the September intake, which is held every Saturday in term time at The Whitehaven Academy.
