MUNCASTER Castle recently held a talk discussing the history of a centuries-old book. 

The Book of Spells talk was held on Tuesday, July 23, from 6.30pm and was part of the Muncaster Talks Series. 

The talks help to educate visitors to the castle about the history of the Muncaster Estate and the wider West Cumbrian area. 

In a post on social media, Muncaster Castle wrote: "What a wonderful evening. Fantastic to see so many of you for our talk about The Book of Spells. Thank you all for joining us.

Sharon Arrowsmith takes care of the castle's extensive book collection and she is widely knowledgeable about the Book of Spells. 

The book contains age-old superstitions and recipes for potions.
