Cumberland Council will host a party this weekend to celebrate the re-opening of a newly regenerated city street.
The Devonshire Street Party will be an afternoon of free live music and entertainment in Carlisle to mark the completion of improvement works that started in February.
Rock With has chosen five bands to perform who will be playing a wide variety of music to get people up and dancing.

Russ Withey, from ‘Rock With’, added: “We are delighted to be working with Cumberland Council to provide an afternoon of live music and have hand-picked some of Cumbria's most talented acts. The opening of Devonshire Street is sure to be an exciting day for Carlisle.”

New planters, trees, seating, lighting and wider pavements have been added to the street in hopes of creating a "high quality, welcoming environment."
Improvement works on Devonshire Street are part of the broader redevelopment plans for Carlisle city centre which includes Carlisle Station Gateway, the Greenmarket, and Market Square.

Leader of Cumberland Council, Councillor Mark Fryer, said: “We are delighted that we have successfully completed the regeneration project on Devonshire Street in Carlisle. This significant investment highlights Cumberland Council’s dedication to the city's growth and development.
“We organised this event as a thank you to businesses and residents for their patience and support throughout the project. It will be a wonderful opportunity for everyone to come together, celebrate the completed project, and support our local businesses.
“We envision Devonshire Street as a vibrant place where people can gather, enjoy the newly revitalised area, and support the local community. The event on Saturday features talented local bands from across Cumberland, and we extend our thanks to ‘Rock With’ for their assistance in organising the bands.
“It promises to be a fantastic day, and we invite everyone to join us for this free celebration.”
The Devonshire Street Party will be up and running from 1pm-6pm on Saturday August 3.
