Carlisle’s much-loved chocolate shop is ever closer to sweet expansion as it prepares to move into its new home.
Castle Chocolates, established by Keith Tattersall in 2019, is in the process of renovating the bigger unit, three doors down from its current site on Fisher Street, ahead of opening towards the end of August, all going to plan.
"As a business, things are going really well,” Keith said.
“We have an amazing customer base and are really well supported – customers come back time and time again, I think that’s down to the business.
“You provide good quality products at a low price with good customer service, people will come back.
“It’s all about creating a customer experience, people want to enjoy shopping these days – and it will be the exact same ethos carried over to the new shop,” he said.
The decision to move into the former First We Eat deli comes as the business seeks more space to accommodate its ever-growing needs, upping its sales area three times the size of its current shop.
“We needed bigger space both in the shop area and in our production area. The current shop has served its purpose, I didn’t know if anyone would walk in the door on day one – but now, I know we have a sustainable business and it is time to expand.
“Having the larger shop space will give us a chance for a larger product range.
"At Christmas, we do a coffee collection which we don’t have the space for to do all year round, now we’ll be able to have more collections like that throughout the year,” he said.
With the expansion, Castle Chocolates also plans to bring on new staff members to support the increased operations.
With the sweet-toothed favourite moving out of the smaller unit on Fisher Street, The Old Bank has submitted plans to move in and create a new bar area to accommodate the restaurant in its space.
