A Carlisle shop is reopening again this weekend, offering huge discounts on a 'treasure trove of stock', before being refurbished into a commercial unit.
Owners Claire and James Vince are offering locals possibly one last opportunity to delve into what's been described as an 'Aladdin's cave', before embarking on a complete shop refit.
The Packenhams Shop on Denton Street will be open today and tomorrow (August 4).
"We don’t know the story behind the reason the shop closed as property investors and local business owners we saw an opportunity to purchase the shop and turn it into a home for our businesses as well as to bring new businesses to the Denton Holme area," Claire said.
"However as the store came with a treasure trove of stock, we thought it would be nice to open it up for the occasional weekends.
"Giving the local community access to the old shop and helping out the local community with reduced-priced items, rather than selling it bulk - let's give back," she said.
The shop will be offering huge discounts on everything from crockery, tools, paint as well as cooking materials.
Once the stock is depleted, the shop will be closed for good.
However, the Packenhams shop isn't slated to sit empty.
"Once everything is sold, we will be giving it a refurb and already have a prospective tenant lined up for the downstairs space," Claire said.
The upstairs will host their business, Castleview Finance, which is currently based on Finkle Street.
Castleview Finance offers services from residential mortgages to commercial and investor lending, as well as bridging loans.
Alongside Castleview Finance, Claire will be operating Cashflow Leasing, a soft asset and loan brokerage intended for businesses from the site.
The shop will be open on Saturday (August 3) from 10am to 5pm and on Sunday, from 10am to 4pm. All stock is 50 per cent off the market prices.
