This summer, popular high-ropes adventure operator Zip World created 25 jobs, once again committing to supporting the local economy.

Each summer Zip World recruit staff from right across the county to become instructors at the site, guiding locals and visitors through each of the various activities.
Zip World Windermere features a range of adrenaline fuelled activities including the Full Trek and Mini Trek, utilising a range of different obstacles for participants to take on high up in the trees; Treetop Nets, which is is a fun and bouncy experience for younger visitors to climb, run and slide in enclosed safety nets hoisted up in the trees, plus recent addition, TreeTop Drop, a nerve testing 32ft freefall drop.
Tom Kenny, general manager at Zip World Windermere, said: “These job roles are perfect for anyone who loves working in the great outdoors and is seeking something fun and hands-on that they can fit around existing life commitments. While the majority of our summer staff are students, we’re open to employing anyone with the right passion and fitness levels who is seeking a flexible, daytime role.”

Zip World Windermere is continuing to work hard on being an adventure attraction that is accessible for all – both from a customer and staffing perspective.
Tom continued: “We want Zip World to be an activity that anyone can enjoy, regardless of their physical capacity. We’ve already seen octogenarian pensioners taking to the wires and had visits from members of the public in wheelchairs or with conditions such as autism, but we want to expand on that.
“Everyone should be able experience the rush of adrenaline than comes from traversing the trees via ropes, wires, logs and other obstacles.”
Zip World Windermere already has experience in this area, having installed videos in British Sign Language in 2023, while in the same year they also created a visual ‘storybook’ in conjunction with the Bendrigg Trust to support participants with conditions such as autism and ADHD.
Furthermore in 2023, the company introduced ‘accessibility hours’, offering sessions for anyone with additional accessibility needs who requires a quieter atmosphere.

In these instances, carers go free and wheelchair users are encouraged to bring along their access sledge to explore.
As a company, Zip World is part of the government’s Disability Confident scheme, which helps the business recruit and retain staff with disabilities, as demonstrated within the Windermere team which includes members with autism, type 1 diabetes and ADHD.
Ongoing staff training ensures the team is able to assist visitors with special requirements and ensure they enjoy a fun and safe time up in the trees.
