MONUMENTS across Cumbria have been lit up in pink over the weekend to show solidarity with the people of Southport who were affected by the tragic stabbings.
Buildings such as the citadels, the Crown and Mitre hotel and the Civic Centre in Carlisle were all lit up in pink over the weekend after Monday's knife attack left three little girls dead.
Two of the girls, Bebe King, aged six, and Elsie Dot Stancombe, aged seven, were pronounced dead shortly after the incident while Alice Dasilva Aguiar, aged nine, died during the early hours of Tuesday morning.
In a statement on social media, Cumberland council said: "As a mark of respect and solidarity with everyone affected by the tragic incidents which took place in Southport earlier this week, along with many other councils and landmarks across the North West, we are lighting up some buildings pink tonight and over the weekend."
