OFFICERS from Copeland police joined in on the fun at a pride event on Whitehaven Harbour over the weekend.

Pride and Diverse Cumbria brought the Colours Community Festival to Whitehaven Harbour last night (Friday).

Officers from the Copeland police team took to social media joining in on the fun - saying they had carried out a 'stop and search' on 90's performer Whigfield who 'dared to play on a Friday night and not a 'Saturday night''.

Whigfield performed the smash hit Saturday Night, after teasing crowds that the song wasn’t on the bill – because it was Friday.

In a statement on social media, Copeland police said: "PC 3157, PC 2503 and PC 2241 are at Whitehaven Pride this evening conducting proactive patrols

"A number of stop searches have been conducted and arrests including Whigfield who dared to play on a Friday night and not a 'Saturday night'"
