Further signs of the transformation of Brunton Park were visible at Saturday's pre-season friendly.

As Carlisle United took on Stockport County, all 1,760 home supporters were in the Main Stand or Paddock.

And they had a clear view of some of the key developments on the opposite side of the ground - namely new executive boxes in the Andrew Jenkins Stand.

United are creating eight boxes in spaces that have been unused ever since the stand opened in 1996.

The progress made on the respective areas was clear, with the seating areas below the glass-fronted boxes on show on Saturday.

Carlisle have already sold seven of the boxes on long-term deals, with the eighth to be on offer on a game-by-game basis.

The developments are part of a multi-million pound overhaul of parts of the ground by United's owners, the Piataks.

The Blues are also creating new lounges, boardroom and other facilities in the stand, which was built during Michael Knighton's reign in the 1990s to replace the former Scratching Pen terrace.

The Warwick Road End is also subject to improvements this summer.

Ongoing work on the East Stand and the Warwick led the Blues to close those stands to home fans both for the Stockport friendly and the first home game of the campaign - against Stoke City in the Carabao Cup first round on Tuesday, August 13.

The Blues have not yet commented on the prospects of the whole ground being ready for the first home league game against Barrow on Saturday, August 17.

Stockport's 120 fans were in the normal away section of the East Stand on Saturday while the home parts of the stand were closed.
