A man was flown to hospital by air ambulance after falling 25m into water in the Lake District last weekend.
On the evening of Saturday 3 August, Keswick Mountain Rescue Team were called out to Fisherplace Gill waterfall, an area which is sadly becoming a hotspot for accidents.
This was the third time this year that the mountain rescue team were called out to Fisherplace Gill.
Keswick MRT said: "A man was on the edge of what has become known as ‘The Infinity Pool’ in one of the mountain streams descending from the Helvellyn ridge. Despite there being numerous such pools in the Lake District this one has seen increased popularity due to social media.
"The man reached out his hand to help his partner but slipped and fell approximately 25m landing in the shallow pool below. Bystanders helped get the man out of the water to the edge of the stream. GNAAS Helimed 58 was on scene before the team arrived and treated the casualty.
"Because of the likely severity of the injuries and the possible requirement to winch the casualty from the gill Coast Guard Rescue 199 was also asked to attend. The team was able to stretcher the casualty down to Helimed parked in a field in the valley whilst R199 stood by in the area in case their assistance became necessary. The casualty was flow to Newcastle RVI by Helimed."
The rescue involved 22 team members from Keswick MRT and took two hours and 28 minutes to complete.
