Two people have been arrested after police found a cannabis farm with around 1,000 plants.
Cumbria police said they found the farm at a property on Lowther Street, Whitehaven, after officers conducted a warrant at the property earlier this morning (August 6).
The two men were arrested on suspicion of cultivating cannabis and remain in police custody while the investigation continues.
Cumbria police added that the warrant was conducted as part of Operation Lookout, their response to tackling commercial cannabis grows.
Some telltale signs that could mean there's a cannabis farm near you include:
- Strong, sickly smells coming from properties
- Properties where the windows are constantly covered
- Excessive security around properties, such as CCTV
- High levels of unusual condensation on windows
- Lots of visitors – and at unsociable hours
- Bright lights day and night
- The constant buzz of ventilation
