TRIBUTES have been paid to a much-loved West Cumbrian theatre worker who has passed away suddenly - as the 'heartbroken' venue open a book of condolence.
Laura Payne, who worked at the Carnegie Theatre in Workington died suddenly, the venue announced yesterday, August 5.
A book of condolence has been opened at the popular theatre and arts centre, as staff invite people to share their memories and thoughts of the much loved worker and 'friend to many'.
In a statement, the Carnegie Theatre and Arts Centre said: "It is with profound shock and sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our dear friend and colleague, Laura Payne.
"Laura was a friend to everyone and will be deeply missed by all of us at the Carnegie Theatre.

"A book of condolence will be available at the box office from tomorrow morning for those who wish to share their thoughts, memories, and sympathies.
"Laura's funeral arrangements will be announced in due course.
"Laura, we are heartbroken and we will all miss you more than words can convey. May you rest in eternal peace."
