THE owners of a new Indian restaurant in Carlisle have said that they are 'excited' to open its doors to the city.

Zurri Bar & Restaurant, located on London Road in the building formerly occupied by Bluerare, is set to be opened by business partners Koyes 'Kaz' Uddin and Shazidur Rahman on Wednesday, August 14.

The pair are embarking on the new venture together after enjoying success with their current businesses, with Kaz owning Spice Fusion Indian Takeaway on Longtown's Swan Street, and Shazidur owning Imon Tandoori on Carlisle's John Street.

The pair also plan to host a private ceremony on Tuesday, August 13 to celebrate the new restaurant's opening with the duo's close friends, family, and takeaway customers.

Kaz said: "Me and my business partner have been in the restaurant business since our early working lives and we have always wanted to open a restaurant.

"For the past few years, we have been looking for a location that would be suitable for us and recently we found this place and think that it ticks all the boxes.

"It has got a really nice car park and is in a perfect location.

"We have both got experience with restaurants and are both running takeaways at the moment, and this is a dream come true for both of us.

For Kaz, Zurri will provide Carlisle with quality Indian food in a 'modern' environment and he cannot wait to finally open its doors to the public.

He said: "We are going for a nice and simple menu but with modern settings.

"We want to bring something that has a nice vibe and a nice feel and we want to do something in Carlisle with beautiful decor.

"We cannot wait to open, it has been a few months of work but we are really happy with it and can't wait to get started."
