WHITEHAVEN's town crier will give a historic shout this weekend.
The town crier, Marc Goodwin, will proclaim the Lammas Market Shout in Whitehaven town centre, a tradition that dates back centuries.
The shout will take place on Saturday, August 10.
A spokesperson from the Office of the Town Crier said: "This Saturday at 11am is the annual Lammas Market 'Shout' by the Whitehaven town crier when he reads the declaration that confirms our right to hold markets in the town.

"If you witness the annual shout, you will be offered the chance to sign the document as a witness and that document is then passed to the records office so this is your annual chance to become a part of Whitehaven history for the future.
"Please pop into town to show Marc some support and to show support for our longest-standing tradition."
