Stagecoach has received a formal warning over failure to sufficiently operate numerous bus services throughout Cumbria. 

A public inquiry, held on April 30, raised complaints from members of the public and Parliament leading to a subsequent Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) investigation.

A family-run garden centre that was established over 20 years ago is coming to the market ahead of the owners' retirement plans. 

Plumpton's The Pot Place Garden Centre, started by Paul Thomas and Kevin Roper, has been placed on the market by property agents, Christie & Co.

Sitting on a roughly 2.75-acre plot, on the site of a former railway, it boasts a specialist pot and garden building centre with a charming tea room, furniture centre, plants, and gift shop.

The owners of a new Indian restaurant in Carlisle have said that they are 'excited' to open its doors to the city. 

Zurri Bar & Restaurant, located on London Road in the building formerly occupied by Bluerare, is set to be opened by business partners Koyes 'Kaz' Uddin and Shazidur Rahman on Wednesday, August 14.

Businesses were closed, arrests were made and a dispersal order was put in place in Carlisle, as the city braced itself for potential disorder amid 'online rumours'.

Police issued a dispersal order in the afternoon of August 7, which urged people to stay away from the city centre area, stretching from Botchergate to Bitts Park.

Six people were later arrested.

Gillingham 4 Carlisle United 1: Carlisle were on the receiving end of an opening-day thrashing at the hands of Gillingham at Priestfield.

Jon Mellish's second-half goal proved slim consolation as the hosts punished United with strikes from Tim Dieng, Jacob Wakeling, Jack Nolan and Jonny Williams.

It proved a bruising start to life back in League Two in front of 533 travelling fans in Kent.
