However, on Tuesday, August 13, Zurri's owners Koyes 'Kaz' Uddin and Shazidur Rahman opened the doors of the restaurant for a private tasting, with close friends, family, and customers of their respective takeaways Spice Fusion Longtown and Imon Tandoori in attendance.

At the private opening, Kaz expressed his delight at realising his dream of becoming a restaurant owner.

He said: "I am absolutely buzzing and so excited. I have waited a long time for this.

"It's been okay tonight, it's been a little bit hectic but I have just wanted to help the staff learn their roles but hopefully as time goes by it will get better.

"It has been amazing to hear from these people that they love how it looks and are so excited for me.

"I think people should come down to see the decor, it is absolutely amazing and once they come in they will be blown away.

"The food is also really high quality so we want everyone to at least come down and give us a try."

REVIEW

At the event, Kaz and Shazidur's guests were treated to a complimentary tasting menu, which featured a starter and main course.

(Image: Matthew O'Hara/NQ) The starter, which consisted of chicken and a samosa, and the mains, a chicken bhuna and tikka masala accompanied by rice and naan bread were a true reflection of Zurri's 'authentic Indian cuisine'.

These dishes were just a glimpse at Zurri's mouthwatering menu which features all the South Asian classics.

The tasting menu was also enhanced by the new restaurant's spectacular interior, with Zurri definitely one to try for local Indian food lovers.
