NACHO NACHO set for big return to Carlisle

The new Mexican food unit on 21 West Tower Street, which will be offering sit-in, takeaway and deliveries, is preparing to open at the end of August following a complete renovation of the site. 

Carlisle-born and bred sisters, Gill and Laura Hutton, first took their idea for the business to the road after buying a street food truck before the pandemic.  

Driven by their love for Mexican food and a desire to fill a gap in Carlisle's food scene, they brought their signature NACHO NACHO Van to various spots throughout Carlisle.

What began at Botcherby Community Centre on Thursday evenings, with people queuing up before they even opened the hatch, soon expanded as their mobile venture began hitting the road throughout Carlisle, Brampton, camping spots, weddings, and catering for private events all across the Lake District.

Their fully customisable menu of burritos, rice bowls, pork carnitas, and of course, their signature nachos, became a quick favourite for those looking for a Mexican food fix.

After retiring their beloved van last summer to pursue their dream of opening up a permanent location, Gill and Laura have been hard at work renovating their new site, promising a fresh and exciting evolution of their popular brand.

“We will be launching new products and events that we are very excited about," Gill said. 

" And we can't wait to welcome back our old customers and hopefully meet some new ones too.

“We want to thank our families for all their help and support while we've been renovating it, and a special thanks to Simon at Red Herring.”
