A ‘saucy’ calendar featuring photos of some of the women working on a scenic train service will be released for next year.
The calendar will mark the 20th anniversary of the refreshment trolley service on the Settle – Carlisle railway.
The women who help run the service have taken off their uniforms to pose for a ‘cheeky fun calendar’ for 2025.
The route, from Carlisle to Settle, and then Leeds in Yorkshire, is world-renowned for its scenery and was named the best scenic railway route in Europe by Lonely Planet, a publisher of travel guides.
The line’s calendar models use some of the iconic images from the route as their backdrops for the months.
‘The Calendar Girls of the Settle Carlisle Line’ was the idea of Susie Payne, operational manager of the Settle Carlisle Railway Development Company, who is Miss February.
Ms Payne started her career in the rail industry as a trolley service operator on the line.
She said: “We wanted to mark the occasion, and we were inspired by the Rylstone and District Women's Institute, which is close to our line in North Yorkshire, and their calendar girls.
“I was delighted when so many volunteered to take part.
“We are also grateful to the businesses which supplied the props for the photoshoot.”
The calendars are now on sale from the refreshment trollies on the train and from the Settle Carlisle Railway Development Company online shop.
Ms Payne added: “As well as raising funds to replace our existing trollies, 10 per cent of the profits from the calendars will go to the air ambulance service.”
Also to mark the special anniversary, a new Settle Carlisle beer has been commissioned for sale on trolley service, produced by Eden Brewery in Penrith.
The Settle Carlisle Railway Development Company was formed in 1992, following the reprieve of the line from closure.
