Penrith suffered late heartbreak in the FA Cup.

The Bonny Blues suffered a 3-2 defeat by Crook Town in the preliminary round.

Darren Edmondson's Penrith side, hoping to reach the first qualifying round for the first time in 11 years, looked set to progress as they led 2-1 going into the closing stages.

But Crook levelled then won the tie thanks to an injury-time penalty at the Leo Group Stadium.

Charlie Bunton's first-half goal had the visitors ahead but Ronan Irving levelled for Penrith early in the second half.

Robbie Hebson then fired Edmondson's hosts ahead on 58 minutes.

But Sonni Coleman levelled the tie in ten minutes from time - then Coleman scored from the spot in the third minute of added time to crush Penrith's hopes in front of a 202 crowd.

It was a better afternoon in Northern League Division One for Carlisle City, who chalked up a third straight victory.

Dan Kirkup's side enjoyed a convincing 4-0 win over Easington Colliery on home soil.

Keighran Kerr fired City ahead before Tom Mahone rifled them 2-0 in front.

Kerr doubled his tally before the break with Kieron Blair's free-kick sealing an impressive result for Kirkup's side.

Cumbria's other Northern League side, Kendal Town, were beaten 2-1 at home by Newcastle Benfield in the FA Cup.

In Northern Premier League Premier Division, Workington Reds were held to a 1-1 draw for the second successive home game as they faced Leek Town.

Mark Fell's side went behind to Ollie Shenton's goal before a first-half leveller from Dav Symington.

Both sides hit the woodwork while Steven Rigg was denied by the Leek keeper late on in front of 591 fans at Borough Park.
