Workington Reds have been handed a home tie as they aim for an FA Cup run this season.

The Borough Park club will host Hebburn Town in the first qualifying round.

Reds were handed the clash with their fellow Northern Premier League Premier Division side in today's draw.

It will see them take on north east opponents who sit third in their table after three straight wins, with Reds having lost one and drawn two.

The game, on Saturday, August 31, will be Mark Fell's first FA Cup tie at the Workington helm.

They are the only Cumbrian side in the competition at this stage after Penrith suffered a late defeat to Crook Townย inย Saturday's preliminary round.

Reds' game later this month will be their second meeting with Hebburn in the space of six days, with the same opponents visiting Borough Park in the league on Monday, August 26.

Daniel Moore's Hebburnย squad includes the former Carlisle United midfielder Liam Noble, who joined the Hornets permanently this summer after a loan spell last season.

Some ยฃ2,250 prize money will be on offer to the winners of the tie. Workington will be looking to go further than last season, when they reached the second qualifying round before being knocked out by Darlington.

The last time the Reds made it to the first round proper was back in 2007/08, when the west Cumbrians, who were then in Conference North,ย made it through the second, third and fourth qualifying rounds before going down to a 4-1 defeat at League Two side Bury.
