A planning application has been submitted to build a roof light on a Grade II listed building.
The application, submitted to Cumberland Council by Dr and Mr Greenwood on August 16, concerns Beaumont House in Carlisle, on the road from Monkhill to Beaumont.
The application’s design and access statement, produced by historic building consultant Oliver Chapman, reads: “The installation of a roof light would involve trimming out a short section of (the) original rafter.
“A roof light in the rear slope is considered to have no detrimental impact upon the appearance or interpretation of the building.
“Overall, the proposals are at the very low end of ‘less than substantial (as defined in the NPPF) and are outweighed by the public benefit of improving the living conditions in this property,” it later reads.
For more information on the planning application, visit the council’s planning website and locate it using the reference number 24/0522.
