A historic church in Cumbria will hold a patronal festival later this month.
St Bartholomew’s Church in Loweswater will hold the event on August 25, in honour of the titular saint.
St. Bartholomew was one of the twelve apostles of Jesus, known for spreading Christianity in regions such as Armenia, where he was reportedly martyred.
He is significant as a symbol of steadfast faith and is often associated with healing, with his feast day, August 24, celebrated in various Christian traditions.
A spokesperson from the church, which is currently undergoing an extensive renovation project, said: “This will be a holy communion service commencing at 10.30am with refreshments, followed by our annual August bank holiday cream tea event at Loweswater Village Hall form 2pm to 5pm, all are welcome.”
