The Flat season continues apace at Carlisle with a bumper meeting consisting of eight races for punters to enjoy at the track today.
Racing gets underway at 4.05pm with a maiden fillies’ stakes in class five before rounding off a couple of hours later at 6.02pm as ten runners tackle the division two handicap.

The opening race of the afternoon (2.05) sees a field of seven head to post for the extended five furlong maiden fillies stakes, with the two-year-olds taking centre stage to kick the card off.
Khaldiya’s sales price rocketed to £300,000 when purchased earlier this year and was second of 11 in a Yarmouth maiden a couple of weeks ago to get her career underway, showing plenty of promise in the process for trainer Roger Varian. Of her rivals, newcomer Winter Solace is one to note, a 280,000 Guineas yearling so wasn’t cheap herself either.
Race two on the card (2.40) is the class five novice stakes for horses aged between three and five, once again over the extended five furlong trip at Carlisle.
Gundogan holds solid claims here for trainer Ed Bethell, hitting the frame on his last two starts, most recently 11 days ago at Redcar and has blinkers applied for the first here to get his head in front. Pinsent is another likely type who can run well, a decent second of eight at Redcar last time out but well-beaten that day.
Infinity Blue, trained by Julie Camacho, is the one to beat in race three (3.15) off the back of a career-best when scoring in a ten-runner Newmarket handicap last time out and can defy a 5lb rise in the weights here.
Race four (3.50) is over the longer distance of one mile and three furlongs at 3.50 and preference here heads the way of Ribble River for trainer Kevin Ryan, a good third in a Nottingham handicap last time out and has improved with every run so far this season.
Division one of the class six maiden handicap marks race five of the afternoon (4.25) as ten runners tackle the extended six furlongs, with Greenwich expected to go well for trainer Rebecca Menzies despite being a bit green on seasonal reappearance when seventh at Newcastle.
Of his rivals here, Space Ninja rates as the main danger off the back of a decent fourth in a nursery contest at this track on his final start as a two-year-old.
Division two of the same discipline is up next on the Carlisle card (5.00) over the same distance with Mambha getting the nod for trainer Michael Dods - providing he can adapt to having cheekpieces on for the first time. Rebecca’s Girl was only narrowly denied on debut for trainer Gary Rutherford at Ayr last time out so ranks as the big threat in this one.
Another division one contest, this time in the class four handicap, is the penultimate race on Carlisle’s card (5.30) and preference here heads to Oso Rapido, who has fallen to an appealing mark having only been narrowly denied at Pontefract last time, and the finale in division two of the same discipline (6.02) can go the way of course and distance scorer Judgment Call, who flopped at the start last time out at Musselburgh but can bounce back to form at a trac he clearly enjoys.
