Cumbrian pet specialist, WCF Pet & Equestrian, is pledging a share of its profits to charities for a second year round.
The charitable scheme, which was successful in its first year, has been embraced by all five of the pet provider's stores located in Cumbria, with each store selecting an animal charity in their area to raise funds for.
The stores offer customers the option to purchase pre-filled donation bags, priced up to a maximum of £10.
These donations packs are stuffed with a range of essential items such as pet food, supplements, toys, treats and healthcare items.
The collected items are then donated to the corresponding charity by WCF Pet & Equestrian's team.
Charities are also able to request items which will be most useful to them to be included in the bags.
General manager Jade Earley, said: "It’s really important to us that we do everything we can to support local charities and, because we specialise in pet products, it made sense for us to choose charities which are close to our hearts.
“Our team has really got behind this initiative, with each store selecting the charity they want to support.
"As well as the donation bag scheme, we support each charity's own fundraising efforts via our social media channels and through our in-store events, and this year we are also making a financial contribution as a company.”
The company has pledged to donate three per cent of money redeemed in-store through its loyalty card scheme.

Several charities are reaping the benefits of this kindness.
The Carlisle store supports Oak Tree Animals’ Charity, Animal Concern Cumbria is supported by the Cockermouth store, Eden Animal Rescue by Penrith, Retired Greyhound South Lakes by Ulverston, and Penny Jones Animal Hospice by Wigton.
Liz Fell, fundraising officer at the Carlisle-based Oak Tree Animals’ Charity, said: “It’s brilliant to have the support of a local business such as WCF Pet & Equestrian, both through raising money and also highlighting the work we do providing a safe place for animals in their time of need.
“Ongoing fundraising and new sources of revenue are crucial to continuing our work and we’re delighted to be part of this partnership.”
This scheme is not limited to the five stores in Cumbria.
Other WCF Pet & Equestrian stores in Castle Douglas, Claughton and Skipton are also participating.
All stores stock a large range of products and offer advice for pet owners and people in the rural community.
A variety of their own brand products are available online and via Amazon.
The Pet & Equestrian stores are part of the WCF family of businesses operating across the UK in retail, leisure and logistics sectors.
Founded in Whitehaven in 1911, the company currently has its headquarters in Brampton, near Carlisle.
