A Cumbrian fire and rescue team visited locals in Gosforth earlier this week to offer support after last week's fire at the Budgens village shop.

Crew from Whitehaven Fire Station were out and about in the Cumbrian village on Friday, August 24 offering support and reassurance to the community following last week’s devastating fire, which affected the shop and several homes on Main Street.

Green Watch, joined by Cumbria Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner David Allen, chatted with residents about fire safety, escape plans and fitted smoke alarms for residents who needed them.

A fundraising page created to aid those affected by the fire has so far raised over £19,000 since it was set up for 'two families who have been deeply affected'.

Any Gosforth residents or members of the community who weren't visited, are urged to complete an online assessment.

Following your online assessment, if a home visit is required then Cumbria Fire and Rescue will arrange it.
