And then Lewis Moore struck five minutes from time to secure Penrith's place in the second qualifying round as well as £550 prize money.
Edmondson's team will be at home in the next round when they will take on North West Counties Premier outfit Padiham, who won 2-1 at Thornaby.

The second qualifying round tie will be played on Saturday, September 21.
Another Cumbrian side made it safely through with Kendal Town winning 5-2 at Tow Law Town to set up a trip to Horden Community Welfare.
Penrith and Kendal next meet in Northern League Division One action in a Cumbrian derby at the Leo Group Stadium on Tuesday night.
In Northern League Division One, meanwhile, Carlisle City's four-game unbeaten run came to an end at the hands of in-form Boro Rangers.
The visitors maintained their 100 per cent start to the season with a 3-0 victory at Gillford Park, City remaining fourth in the table and Boro top after seven straight wins.
City head to Crook Town in their next league game on Wednesday.
Cumbria's top non-league side, Workington Reds, were well beaten on the road in their latest Northern Premier League Premier Division outing.
Mark Fell's side went down 3-0 at Ashton United, bringing a three-game unbeaten sequence to an end.
Louis White put the hosts in front late in the first half then goals from Darius Osei and Thomas Denton sealed Reds' second defeat of the campaign, Fell's side 15th in the table after the setback against their fourth-placed opponents.
New loan striker signing Yestin Shakespear, who has joined from Bolton Wanderers, made his Workington debut as a substitute.
Next up for Reds is a Bank Holiday Monday clash at home to Hebburn Town.
