A flood warning persists for Keswick, leading to the closure of the town's campsite and the cancellation of the Keswick Agricultural Show this bank holiday weekend.

Heavy rain is still expected throughout much of the county today (August 25) with the warning still in place for the town's campsite area.

Meanwhile, parts of Cumbria are still dealing with the aftermath of Storm Lillian, the storm’s impact has been widespread, leading to numerous disruptions in the area.

On Friday, it was announced the campsite and caravan park in Keswick had to be closed due to the ongoing flooding with pictures of high water levels being shared on social media.

Visitors to Buttermere were warned to stay away after a landslide blocked Newlands Pass also on Friday (August 23).

As a result of the ongoing conditions, Keswick Agricultural Show organisers have made the 'difficult decision' to cancel the event on Bank Holiday Monday (August 26) due to the car parking field being 'waterlogged'.

In an announcement on social media, organisers said: "We have explored every possible option to continue but sadly the weather has been extremely unkind to us.

"We have a responsibility to our generous landowners who allow us the use of the field and to our traders whom we would not be able to guarantee the safety of their vehicles or property.

"As a committee we are devastated as so much hard work and preparation goes into producing the Show.

"We are not beaten; we will step up and work towards a great show for 2025," they said.

Despite the weather conditions, the Show's Barrow Fell Race from the Showground is still scheduled to take place at 2 p.m. on Monday, August 26.
