Lake District: Windermere Swallows and Amazons Afternoon Tea

It was the 1930 novel written by children’s author that captured the spirit of sailing on boats, fishing, exploring islands 

Ransome spent many a happy hour with his family at Langdale Chase and contrived the narrative that has inspired two Swallows and Amazons films in 1974 starring Virginia McKenna and 2016 starring Andrew Scott. 

Lake Windermere has become synonymous with this evocative free spirited tale of adventure and innocence.
