A Cumbrian charity hero was presented with his British Empire Medal last week after a lifetime of fundraising efforts.
Mr Tommy Coulthard B.E.M received his British Empire Medal from The Lord Lieutenant of Cumbria, Mr Alex Scott, representing His Majesty The King in Penrith last week.
Mr Coulthard is an avid supporter of Hospice at Home Carlisle and North Lakeland, and his incredible efforts have now been recognised by the Crown.
President of the charity, Lady Elizabeth Leeming said, 'it was an honour to be present' along with head of fundraising and marketing, Julie Blundell and Tommy's friends and admirers in the Gavel Room at the Hired Lad in Penrith last week.
On social media, Hospice at Home said: "All were there to celebrate his remarkable life and to demonstrate their affection and respect for him. Some moving words were spoken and poems read, and there was a resounding standing ovation. Thank you to all the family for an afternoon never to be forgotten! Thanks too for the delicious tea, provided by Katy Edgar. That Tommy and his family allowed a collection for Hospice at Home on this, Tommy's special day, was very much appreciated and typical of their generosity."
