A local ice cream man gave Keswick Mountain Rescue Team members a free ‘99’ after they helped a woman with a broken ankle down from Catbells.
An off-duty doctor phoned the emergency services after coming across a woman with a broken ankle, caused by a slip whilst descending Catbells.
Team members were soon on scene after navigating the bank holiday traffic.

Pain relief was provided, and the ankle splinted prior to a stretcher carry back to the road.
After the woman had left for hospital, the team took some time to enjoy some rare sunshine and a ’99’ kindly donated by the local ice cream man.
