A REPORT of an 'ill-equipped' family near England's highest mountain saw mountain rescuers called out.
Wasdale Mountain Rescue Team attended a rescue on August 24 when a walker reported a group that was 'struggling' to descend from the stream crossing on Brown Tongue, near Scafell Pike.
The informant was concerned that the family group was 'ill-equipped' for the conditions and the male walker was having frequent muscle spasms.
"They were all cold and wet and struggling to make any progress," said the mountain rescue team.
"Again, a small team was tasked from base to investigate. However, on arrival at Brackenclose, the family was located in the car park having successfully made their own way off the hill. They stood down and returned to base once more."
The call was received at 9.28pm and took 1 hour and 15 minutes to assist the family. Six team members were involved.
