Oasis have dominated the world of music this week after announcing their reunion this week, 15 years on from their last performance together.
On Tuesday, Liam and Noel Gallagher officially announced the return of their Manchester-formed rock band.
While the iconic duo have never performed in Carlisle, one the UK's leading Oasis tribute bands had the joy of playing at The Brickyard, just a few days before the huge news broke.
Brian McGhee and Martin Reid formed Definitely Oasis just a few months after Liam and Noel broke up 15 years ago, and they have enjoyed great success in the years since.
Speaking to the News & Star, Brian said: "I came up with the idea in 2009, not long after Oasis split. I thought it was the right time, it took a few years to get off the ground. By 2012, we started doing gigs, in small pubs but overnight in 2013, it exploded. Suddenly we were out every weekend performing all over the UK and abroad. There is clearly a massive demand for Oasis, and that's never died down. It's gotten even crazier now, I think there will always be a demand for them."
Definitely Oasis visited Carlisle on Saturday, August 24, the first gig of a UK tour that is set to run until December, although some dates may now have to be moved around, given this week's news.
Brian added: "Carlisle was awesome as always. I think that was our eighth or ninth year playing there. We love it at The Brickyard, it's one of the better gigs we do. The crowd is always up for it from the word go, and Saturday wasn't any different. A great crowd, and a great venue."
It looks set to be a busy few months for the duo, who will also be desperately seeking tickets for the upcoming Oasis tour.
Brian concluded: "I've already got my hotels sorted for London. We will definitely be going to a few of them. If we've got to camp outside, we will do it. Good luck to anybody who's trying to get them."
