An Irish country music star is set to entertain fans at a village hall concert.

Barry Doyle, known as Farmer Dan, will perform at Rosley Village Hall on September 8.

Mr Doyle has recorded and released 34 albums and 15 DVDs over the past 20 years, earning the title of the 'most recorded independent Country Artist in Europe.'

Mr Doyle spent 12 years touring with his five-piece country band, achieving 'great success' with the song Wiggle Wiggle.

At the same time, his alter ego, Farmer Dan, made him one of Ireland's 'biggest selling recording artists', leading to headlining gigs at major agricultural festivals, street fairs, and steam fairs.

Joining Mr Doyle on stage will be Joe McNamee.

The audience will witness Mr Doyle on keyboards, bass, drums, synth and vocals with Joe on lead guitar, pedal steel and vocals.

Both musicians are firm believers in the authenticity of live music, and will not be using any backing tracks during their performance.

Organiser Adele Egglestone of Penrith said: "We are looking forward to the vibrant show that Barry Doyle/Farmer Dan is renowned for.

"Barry has visited many times as Farmer Dan, and both Barry and Joe are great musicians and entertainers.

"Mixed with Barry’s quick wit, I know it will be a brilliant night of laughter and great live music."

Tickets for the show must be purchased in advance and are priced at £15.

They can be bought from Adele on 07706 597132.

The show starts at 8pm with doors opening at 7pm.

The hall has a fully licensed bar and disabled facilities.
