AN UNINSURED motorist was more than 15 times the cocaine limit when he was caught driving on the A66.
Philip Gomersall, 42, was driving a black Ford Focus on the road at Thornthwaite, Keswick, on March 13. A blood test showed he had 154mcg of cocaine per litre of blood. The specified limit is 10mcg.
Gomersall, of Moss Bay Road, Workington, pleaded guilty to driving a motor vehicle with a proportion of a specified controlled drug above the specified limit and using a vehicle on a road without third party insurance.
Magistrates sitting in Workington banned Gomersall from driving for 17 months and imposed a 12-month community order with 80 hours of unpaid work.
The defendant must also pay £85 costs and a £114 victim surcharge.
