A MISSING person search was launched after a man was swept away in an inflatable canoe in the Lake District.
The incident involved three men who had planned a boat trip down the Derwent River in Borrowdale on August 28 at around 1pm.
One man boarded the inflatable and was swept away by the strong current.
Unable to locate their friend, the remaining two reported him missing after a 40-minute search.
Keswick Mountain Rescue team members were deployed from Keswick boat landings and Portinscale Marina to search the lake and river.
Cumbria Fire and Rescue, West Cumbria Search & Rescue and the Coastguard helicopter were also tasked with the search.
The fire service located the missing individual downstream of Grange on the road, 'oblivious of the search'.
The operation involved 15 team members and lasted for 2 hours and 11 minutes.
