A MAN has been banned from entering shops in Whitehaven for two years. 

Graeme Donnelly, 37, of no fixed abode, was handed a criminal behaviour order (CBO) at North and West Magistrates yesterday (August 28). 

He was also sentenced to four months imprisonment for two counts of shoplifting and public order committed in July.

As part of the CBO, Donnelly must comply with the following conditions: 

  • • Not to enter any retail premises or property that are members of the Whitehaven Shopwatch Scheme, entry to Morrisons Pharmacy, Flatt Walks, Whitehaven is permitted for purpose of collecting prescription medication.
  • • Not enter any retail premises of property displaying Whitehaven Shopwatch Scheme posters at any point of entry.
  • • Not to be in possession of any unsealed vessel containing alcohol in any public place, except Inside a licensed premises.
  • • Use or threaten violence against a named person or encourage or instruct any other person to do so.

 Should the public observe any breach of these court-order terms, they should contact police. 

The punishment for breaking the terms of a CBO can be up to five years in prison.
