D&G Autocare opens first branch outside Scotland in Carlisle

D&G Autocare, which is based in Scotland, has expanded south of the border for the first time and opened a new garage on Durranhill Industrial Estate.

The group, which has been running for more than 20 years, opened its first garage in Fife and has since expanded across Scotland.

The new Carlisle branch has already employed four mechanics, with plans to recruit two apprentice mechanics in the next six months.

The new garage will be managed by Shaun Clelland, who previously managed the group's Rutherglen garage.

Mr Clelland said: "I am really enjoying the challenge of establishing this new garage, and am delighted to say that we are already starting to make a name for ourselves in the local Cumbrian marketplace as a quality independent.

"For us, it’s all about bedding into the local community – that’s where our friendly garage group excels."

The Carlisle branch has already started giving back to the community by donating two batteries to the West Cumbria Search and Rescue Team.

Mr Clelland said: "Their communications vehicle came to us needing two new batteries, as their old ones were just not keeping the charge long enough.

"Luckily for all concerned, we had the correct, high-spec batteries needed for the job in stock, and were able to donate two of the batteries to this worthy organisation to help them out."

D&G Autocare has said it is committed to supporting clubs, sporting organisations, events, and charities.

The group's operations director, Pete Wood, said: "Establishing here in Carlisle is our first garage opening since the pandemic.

"As such, it’s hugely significant to us, proving that we are back on track with our ambitious expansion plans, but also because it’s our first garage south of the border.

D&G Autocare Carlisle offers a full range of autocare services, including servicing, MOTs, garage repairs, and wheel alignment, along with fitting tyres, exhausts, brakes, suspensions, timing belts, clutches, and batteries.

The new garage is now open to customers and is located at Unit 1 Site 3, Peacock Road, Durranhill Industrial Estate, Carlisle, CA1 3UD.

It is open Monday to Thursday from 8am to 5.30pm, Friday from 8am to 5pm, and Saturday from 8am to 12.30pm.
