A Cumbrian mum has launched her third book of 2024, just in time for kids across the region returning to school.
Jenny Price published her first book, Alyssia's Magic Balloon: A Magical Mindfulness Story, in March this year, focusing on children's mental health.
After finding a lot of success, the St Bees star published Alyssia's Magic Tree as her second book, and Alyssia's Magic Bubble now completes the trilogy.
She will hold a book launch at Keswick Museum in late September, and hopes to stock her book in school libraries and local shops, as well as selling online through her website.
Jenny said: "In the third book, Alyssia is experiencing some sensory overload. She's had a very overwhelming day, she's been to the play centre with people crying and screaming around her all day.
"At night, she's anxious, she's scared of the dark. Her mum teaches her a magic light bubble meditation, where you imagine yourself in a cocoon of light. It's a really good meditation technique for kids. It makes them feel calm and relaxed, and in control of their environment. It's a great way of keeping good emotions in."
Jenny will also donate some of the book's profits to Eden Mind, with the charity providing vital mental health services to people across Cumbria.
The magical mindfulness books are seen as a great way of teaching kids ways to grow up with a healthy mindset, that can benefit them for the rest of their lives.
She said: "If you learn these things when you're really young, you are planting the seeds for them to grow up and use these tools without even realising. It will help them be a lot calmer and not as stressed as lot of people are in today's society."
Jenny also shared a message of support to any young children who are preparing to return to school this week.
She concluded: "Keep yourself centred and grounded. Focus on the present moment, don't worry about what's not happened. If you spend too much time thinking about the past or the future, you're not enjoying the present."
