CUMBRIA Police have been targeting 'fly campers' in the Western Lake District.
Officers have been in Ennerdale Valley tackling people illegally camping in the area.
However, this is not the only part of the Lake District that is happening.
In a post on social media, Cumbria Police wrote: "This evening three groups of campers were moved on and directed to local campsites by police and were educated on the 'dos and don'ts' of wild camping, the countryside code and SSSI sites.
"An increase in social media 'advertising' has seen an influx of visitors to the valley who have been lighting fires causing damage, leaving rubbish, and setting up for the night within the boundaries of the SSSI.
"Wild Camping is typically a difficult scene for us to Police due to the trespass generally being classed as civil which means enforcement is hard to implement for all agencies involved.
"Whilst we appreciate this is frustrating; we are working with the PCC and local MPs to hopefully get this changed so that we have increased powers to act, enforce, and remove those damaging and abusing our valleys."
