Cumbria Singers are inviting people to join them.

On September 14, the group will start preparing for their annual concert, which will take place at Carlisle Cathedral on April 26.

The programme will include 'Five Mystical Songs' by Vaughan Williams, Bob Chilcott's 'Requiem,' and 'Gloria' by John Rutter.

Matthew Owens, an internationally recognised conductor, composer, and organist, will be the music director and conductor for this season.

Participants from the Come and Sing day in June, are said to have 'immensely enjoyed' his approach.

Mr Owens said: "I am hugely looking forward to our first rehearsal when we shall be looking at Bob Chilcott’s setting of the Requiem.

"It’s a beautiful and powerful work which I can’t wait to perform with you all."

Cumbria Singers welcomes people of all ages to join them, with no auditions or previous choral singing experience required.

The group offers a free taster session for people interested in joining.

Rehearsals will be held in the Cumberland Hall at Ullswater Community College, from 9am to 3.30pm.

There will be four full-day rehearsals between September and March, with online rehearsal resources available in between.
