A THIEF who stole washing pods, coffee and steak has been ordered to pay compensation.
John Pickering, 53, stole Fairy washing pods worth £42.25 from Home Bargains in Workington on August 15.
He then stole steak and coffee worth £42.55 from Tesco Express in Maryport on August 18.
Pickering, of Eaglesfield Street, Maryport, pleaded guilty to two charges of theft from a shop when he appeared before Workington Magistrates’ Court.
Magistrates imposed a 12-month community order with 25 rehabilitation activity requirement days. Pickering was ordered to pay £84.80 in compensation. No order was made for costs.
