CUMBRIA's Museum for Military Life is set to host its final family day as it marks the 80th anniversary of Operation Market Garden (Arnhem).
The final family day will take place on Sunday, September 8, and follows a summer of events that have commemorated the anniversary.
The various events have been hosted by the Museum, located in Alma Block within Carlisle Castle, and haves seen the relative of soldiers who fought at Arnhem travelling from as far afield as St Helen’s, Bolton, and Cheshire to be part of them.
After an introductory talk, attendees will be able to visit the museum's temporary exhibition 'Arnhem 80: The Aftermath and The Legacy 1944-2024’, with this being followed by a screening of 'Theirs is the Glory'.
Speaking after one of the previous family days, Museum manager Jules Wooding, said: "The families all have the shared experience of a relative that had served during Operation Market Garden, and this was an opportunity for them to remember, reflect, and find out more."
