A popular village hairdresser is set to change its name as part of a sustainability and environmentally-focused rebrand.
Alan's Hairdressing, which is located within Wetheral's Community Hall, is owned by Paula Murray and from Saturday, September 21 it will be known as 'Eden Hairdressing Wetheral'.
The salon, which has been a mainstay in the village for decades, was opened by Paula's father Alan, who is now semi-retired. Paula who has worked at the hairdresser since she was 13, taking over in 2019.
Now, Paula is aiming to update Alan's and make it a more 'environmentally friendly' salon.
She said: "Alan is my dad, I started working here when I was a teenager and I think we have just evolved. I think we sound like a men's barbers now and we are a bit more than that now.
"With our name change, we are going to a more sustainable and greener salon, so we are introducing new products and a new range that are more environmentally friendly, even down to the disinfectants that we use on our tools.
"We also currently pay to get the hair we cut take away and recycled and I believe that we can do more like that in the salon.
"We are going to have some new products, some new treatments but it is going to be the same old faces that everyone recognises."
The rebrand will be launched and celebrated at a party on Saturday, September 21 where Paula says clients old and new will be able to find out more about the future of Eden Hairdressing Wetheral.
She said: "We are going to be showcasing some of our new treatments on some of our clients.
"We are going to be doing some tricology and hair loss treatments and I have got a microscope that you can really magnify into the scalp so I am going to be doing some free consultations around that.
"Finally, we are going to be doing a raffle with some products for Carlisle Foodbank, showing off the newly painted salon, and having a celebration with some prosecco and cake."
