A CUMBRIAN celebrant has put the county 'on the map' by taking part in hit Netflix TV series Love is Blind UK.

Kerrie Low is founder of The Birds and The Bees Celebrant Services. Born and bred in Carlisle, Kerrie operates her business from the city, but travels nationally and internationally to carry out her work.

The celebrant, who carries out services from weddings to funerals, was invited to participate in the 2024 series of hit Netflix show Love is Blind UK, carrying out a ceremony for show sweethearts Demi and Ollie during their wedding on the series.

Demi chose not to marry partner Ollie during the ceremony - which was of course a bit of a shock for Kerrie.

Speaking about that moment she said: "I was pretty nervous as that has never happened to me in one of my real ceremonies before, but the production team were guiding me through an earpiece to help me get the best of Demi and Ollie at that moment."

The episode was filmed in Wynyard Hall, Stockton-on-Tees, with Kerrie saying and she 'hopes to deliver more weddings there in future as it was utterly gorgeous'.

Kerrie said her social media 'went crazy' following the show and she is still receiving messages from people all over the world to say: "Hey, I just saw your face on LIB!"

Speaking about the experience, Kerrie said: "The CPL production team really looked after me on the day and it has possibly been one of the hardest, most exciting secrets I have had to keep between filming and airing of the show.

"I just hope my son who is living in France isn't too embarrassed by his 'not so normal' mam if he ever sees the show.

"I am very proud to have put a little Carlisle face on a global Netflix show though."

And it may not be the last time we see the Carlisle celebrant on the screen, with Kerrie saying she is keen to 'grab all opportunities' that come her way after such a positive experience.
