A SOCIAL group in West Cumbria will be hosting an open day this month.
West Cumbria Wood Turners will be hosting the event in Dearham on September 14.
David Blanden, secretary to West Cumbria Wood Turners said: "It will be held at the Mission Rooms, next to St Mungo's Church on Church Street in Dearham.
"We're a wood-turning group that has been in existence since the late 1990s. We're made up of 38 people who are all interested in woodturning, we meet on the third Saturday of every month.
"Some days we have professional woodturners come and demonstrate to us, and on other days we have hands-on sessions where older ones teach the younger ones.
"And by younger I mean people in their 60s, there aren't many young ones it's an old man's activity.
"We're all woodturners in our own right, and many of us have our workshops in our garages and gardens."
